Chains Shall He Break

Truly He taught us to love one another,
His law is love and His gospel is peace.
Chains he shall break, for the slave is our brother.
And in his name all oppression shall cease.
Sweet hymns of joy in grateful chorus raise we,
With all our hearts we praise His holy name.
Christ is the Lord! Then ever, ever praise we,
His power and glory ever more proclaim!
His power and glory ever more proclaim!

This is our Savior. This particular verse in o holy night sends a chill down my spine everytime I hear or think about it. It’s left out in many versions of the song. Perhaps it’s because this is the 3rd verse of the song, or perhaps because people don’t want to hear about a Savior who’s gospel requires them to believe something about who Jesus was other than his death on the cross, but regardless we all remember Christ’s birth on December 25th.

We are all one in Christ. Jesus has set us free.

Praise God!
